Five years ago I posted about Walter De Maria's The Lightning Field, a place I've wanted to experience for many years.
I'm so excited because this weekend I will finally get to make this pilgrimage (a rare treat that only 6 people get to take every 24 hours...and only 6 months out of the year).
You can read more about the details of our adventure on @katyahancock's blog C'est La Vie, etc. but here are some highlights about the place/sculpture from the Dia Website:
Commissioned and maintained by Dia Art Foundation, The Lightning Field is recognized internationally as one of the late-twentieth century’s most significant works of art and exemplifies Dia’s commitment to the support of art projects whose nature and scale exceed the limits normally available within the traditional museum or gallery.
I'm still debating whether or not I will try to check in on Foursquare or send a tweet while experiencing The Lightning Field. Perhaps I will post some audio if my cell works:)
