These days it seems like there is a law for everything.
As of yesterday, if you are under 21 and are caught carrying spray paint cans or wide markers in New York City you may be jailed or fined as part of a new tagging crackdown in the city. Another new law that went into effect yesterday makes it illegal for business owners to not clean up graffiti marking their property. Not that these laws will do too much to disuade street artists from expressing themselves, but the details of this law seem far reaching to me. What happens if a teenager is carrying home his magic markers from art class? What about the old school street artists...do they get a pass? And what happens if a property owners decides they want to leave up a beautiful throw-up like the one pictured above?
